Speaking of ominous reveals, we need to apologize to everyone waiting to hear back about the Masquerade. There was a typo in the application that said to expect a round of contact emails between August 6th and 9th. That was incorrect, as Masquerade sign ups are still open through the 19th. Masquerade staff will be reaching out to applicants between August 16th and 19th. Again we apologize for the confusion! In better cosplay news, PopCult Anime Con are pleased to present this year’s Masquerade judges! We are especially thrilled to be welcoming Mink the Satyr to our judging panel after having to withdraw from our Local Legend roster last year. Popcult Anime Con 2022
PopCult Anime Con is pleased to be bringing back three of our Dedicated Workshop rooms this year! Dedicated workshop rooms are areas at PCAC where fans of a highly specific or stylized type of fandom can come together to create, discuss, discover and participate in various activities throughout the event weekend. Newcomers and other curious people are also welcome to come in and learn about these hobbies and get their feet wet with the help of our experienced room hosts and trial materials.
Of course we have the fan favorite Artists Café, hosted by PCAC mascot designer and local artist OneLovely Sin. This room is dedicated to drawing and coloring, and the types of arts and crafts you find in our Exhibitors Hall. Use our art supplies, ask questions, play games and craft your own souvenirs!
Roleplay enthusiasts and fine artists alike will enjoy our Miniature Painting room, hosted by Local Legend Muses Touch! This room doubles as both a craft and tabletop fan space, dedicated to the customizable creatures and landscapes used in Dungeons & Dragons and similarly styled games. Enjoy browsing a large variety of minis, then stay and paint your own alongside an award-winning mini painter all while discussing the joys of RPG!
Anime Con Events
The Doll House is returning this year, hosted by BJD enthusiasts (and past PCAC Masquerade judge) Ace & Arrow. This room will be dedicated to both owners and fans of those wonderfully customizable Ball-Jointed Dolls. Featuring a combination of panel programming, photography setups, and design contests, there’s something here for everyone whether they own multiple dolls or have never heard of a BJD before!

We are full-speed ahead for PopCult Anime Con 2023~ The site has been getting updated daily with all sorts of new info, entirely new pages full of programming tracks and there’s still more to come! Also recently updated is the Game Shows page, now including a list of all the games you can play at PCAC23 just by being in the audience without signing up beforehand. For those of you still interested in a piece of Main Event Game Show glory, Cosplay DeathMatch is looking for just a few more participants! This game pits your character against other characters and your fandom against other fandoms as you fight to charm the audience and win enough cheers to keep you in the game. Fail and your character is defeated! Winners may take home all sorts of prizes, including free passes to PCAC24.
As the hotel block closes, we’d like to remind everyone that PCAC23 also has an attendance cap enforced by the Westin Waltham-Boston. While we are not close to that number right now in pre-reg we can get close to that number with at-door and one-day sales. So for anyone planning to attend that has not gotten tickets yet, we highly recommend pre-registering before the August 19th cutoff date to ensure you have a badge waiting for you at the door!

Boo to another rainy summer weekend in New England, right? Thought we’d bring you some sunshine and announce details for this year’s Themed Dances and Artists Café!
Be swept away to a world of music and wonder at this year’s themed dances, hosted by that lovable bard Rolind the Traveler! If you’re pre-registered for the con, be sure to check out the Friday Night Opening Ceremonies Dance. Step through the portal with Crown Prince Wacky into their homeland of living pool inflatables and kick off the con right with your favorite anime and gaming tunes. If you’re prone to early-onset post-con depression fight it off at the Saturday Night Pajama Party, an after midnight mini dance to play out the 18+ Dating Game in the Eden Vale Lobby. Finally, dress up (or down!) for the Closing Ceremonies Semiformal Ball featuring live piano music played by Local Legend Matt Myers!

An illustrator, animator, comic artist and dungeon master, Luke recently graduated from the Department of Animation at Lesley University. He is a digital artist specializing in visual storytelling with an enthusiasm for developing diverse characters. PopCult Anime Con is thrilled to announce Local Legend Matt Myers of LeetStreet Boys, LeetMusic and HitherYon Games as our musical guest for 2023! A former Waltham resident, Matt is most well-known as the singer/songwriter of anime band LeetStreet Boys whose debut single “Yuri The Only One” was released in 2008. Happy 15th Anniversary! To celebrate, Matt will be sharing stories of his time with the band and what he’s been up to since as both a video game composer & developer.
